Presenting a child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism is a serious obligation on the part of
the parents and requires a faith commitment by being active, practicing Catholics. At least one godparent must also be an active, practicing Catholic. Parents seeking Baptism for their child should come to the Parish Office to register for a Baptism preparation class. Children, ages 7
or older, which are in need of Baptism, participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process. No Baptisms take place during the season of Lent. Baptism Prep classes are offered in both English and Spanish. Please contact the Faith Formation Office for more information.
THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
1213 - Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and in the word.” Catechism of the Catholic Church no. 1213
